The Fifth Week

Since we are faced with some hardship* during the project and we actually have some achievement of installing and setting up Xen and VMs on a single machine. We were there to find a replacement for my dead machine. We actually found one in Dr. Parimala's lab, and it is installed with Yellow Dog Linux which is a Debian/Fedora version. What is more, that machine is protected by password and the system administrator could not find the password, the only way to use that machine is to reinstall the OS and get the Root permit. Then I tried to find some ISO image file for it, however sources on the P2P network are too few that it may take one week to download the file. we decide to slightly change our topic of the project.
Live Migration is a very hot topic since Windows 2008 Sever RC2 was released. And rightnow, it is getting hotter by more and more utilities of Cloud Computing. Now, we have a desktop with Solaries and all related softwares installed and tested, which really makes the work a little bit easier. What I have done so far is to figure out the way to setting up the Xen on strict Linux family like CentOS and Ubuntu, when talking about Solaris I only have a little bit experience of using the Unix-like system for fun a few years ago.

*My laptop crashed down and it could not start again anyway.
